Text + documents
Share a short note or one file per Send, including PDFs, Office files, images, and other file types.
For employees sending confidential information—and a separate path when someone needs to send documents back to us.
Recommended for Orion team members
Use Bitwarden Send for confidential notes and files. The content is encrypted before upload, and you can restrict who opens it, require a password, set an expiration date, and limit views.
An Orion employee needs a Bitwarden account to create a Send. File Sends and recipient email verification require an eligible paid plan. A recipient opening your link does not need an account. Short text Sends are limited to about 1,000 encrypted characters; use a document for longer text.
Share a short note or one file per Send, including PDFs, Office files, images, and other file types.
Set a deletion date so the link stops working. Revoke a Send sooner if plans change.
Require the recipient's email verification or a separately shared password.
Set the view limit to one for a one-time link. Check how the service counts text views versus file downloads.
Create a new Bitwarden Send. Use Text for a short secret or File for a document of any supported file type.
Set the shortest practical deletion date. Choose a specific recipient or a strong password, then set Limit views to 1 when appropriate.
Copy the Send link into your ordinary email. Do not paste the sensitive content or attach the original document.
If you selected password protection, give the password by phone or another trusted channel—not in the same email as the link.
Use a protected, expiring Proton Drive link instead. It supports password protection and expiration, but does not provide the same one-view limit.
An employee should create a separate file-request link for that person, with an expiration date, and send it directly to them. A Bitwarden Send link only lets them read or download—it cannot accept an upload. We recommend an encrypted Tresorit File Request for this inbound workflow once an Orion account is configured. We have not enabled a public upload link.
Do not reuse one open upload link for multiple people or put private documents into the ordinary website contact form. Verify unexpected files with the sender before opening them.
“One-time” means the link can stop serving content after an access. It cannot prevent screenshots, copies, downloads, forwarding, or access by someone who gets the link and password first. Use recipient verification for high-risk material.
